International Cooperation

Every month with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and once every six months with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the AEC contacts its responsible personnel to test the communication links with these two organizations. Furthermore, the AEC takes part in the IAEA-led Convex exercises for the purpose of strengthening Taiwanese emergency response capability and information exchange. By doing so, Taiwan would be able to seek outside assistance and obtain related information from international nuclear community should a serious nuclear accident occur.

In addition, the AEC also actively participates in nuclear emergency exercises organized by OECD/NEA (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development/Nuclear Energy Agency) and engages in the studies related to technical supports and cooperation. Examples of such participations are: Switzerland regional exercise (INEX, 1996), Canadian regional exercise (INEX2, 1999), and French INEX3 in 2005 that was focused on the recovery measures after an accident.
