Date: 31 July – 1 August, 2018
Location: AEC Headquarters
Attendees: About 80 attendees
Technical information exchange and experience feedbacks from regulatory authorities worldwide are important for Taiwan since we are in incipient stage of nuclear power plant decommissioning. With an expectation to firm up our regulatory basis, the AEC invited two specialists from USNRC, Mr. Bruce Watson and Karen Pinkston to share their experiences as well as knowledge on July 31 and August 1, 2018. More than 80 staff from the AEC, AEC affiliated units, Taiwan Power Company, National Tsing-Hua University and other institutes attended this workshop. This productive workshop and discussions with these experts afterwards are of great help to us.
The topics covered in the 2018 Decommissioning Workshop include the leading issues involved with the transition from operation to decommissioning, MARSSIM application to NPP decommissioning projects, the selection process of RESRAD key input parameters as well as example demonstrations, and R&D and innovations in nuclear power plant decommissioning.
For us, this workshop serves as a great starting point for further research and application in nuclear power plant decommissioning. As always, the AEC continues to be a huge support for the citizens, and the AEC would concentrate considerable efforts to ensure the public safety and health throughout decommissioning.
